Today I hung out with Bree, we also spent time with Valerie and Pat at the beginning and end of the day. I accompanied her and Louis to the waterpark which I never knew was right next to the Mccarren Park Pool, it has a huge scary turtle in the center of it with red eyes and flaking paint.

We also visited the newest location of the store "Junk" where I admired this cat painting.

We then had dinner at Taco Chulo which is one of my favorite places around. I came home to find that Jason had thrown up his new dog treats onto his fur so he needed a bath straight away, he likes to run around like a lunatic every time he gets a bath, it's really something to see. This is him after he calmed down. His legs are so long and lanky, he's like a baby foal.

I thrifted this new poodle family for my collection, I think the mom is supposed to have a parasol, the chain connecting the puppies is missing too. I like them just the same though.

I mean look at her snoot! I've never seen such a dramatic one.

I have quite a few poodle families, I love this one although one of the puppies is missing it's tail.
I also found these amazing poodle cards. They have a disturbing look of desperation though, perhaps they want to be saved from a life of bridge?

I thought it would be funny if I could get a picture of Jason as if he were playing cards with them, it's not going to happen though.

I scanned some more family slides tonight, here are some of them:
The last one is of me, sleeping on a green couch that I don't remember us owning.

These are some photos of things that I see around the neighborhood everytime I take my dog for a walk.
one way down
trash pile
This trash pile always gets me, it's directly across from my front door. It is the refuse from the public elementary school across the street. It's usually a much bigger pile during the school year, now that it's summer it's a little smaller. It never goes away, as soon as it gets picked it up it is replenished. When the trash truck comes they throw the bags in, as it crushes it all chocolate milk pours out and there is always a river of it flowing downhill along the curb. I wish they would use a dumpster or trash barrels, it's pretty gross the way it breaks apart and pieces of trash end up scattering all over the street.

vintage cotton checkered dress new in my shop. today is way waaaaaay too hot, all i want is some fine and raw coconut ice cream but to go outside to get it is too daunting of a task.

I found these amazing handmade placemats in a thrift store today, i have a stack of 5 of them. I love them so much, they are like crazy 1970's collage clouds. They are laminated and the back on all of them is a brown floral pattern. I think they are going up on my kitchen walls.

Oh and I also found this little painting, someone signed and dated it in 1989. I thought it was really charming.

wardrobe remix
One of my favorite vintage finds of late, a white floral dress with matching jacket. I wore it to visit Valerie this afternoon, we had ice tea while Alden had almond milk in a sippy cup. It was unbelievably humid and it rained for the first time in ages. It was nice that it finally rained, I kept thinking about the field of christmas trees my parents recently planted, they have been stressing out about watering them enough. I was excited when I first heard about their new venture but then I learned that it takes 7 years for them to be ready to sell. That's practically forever.

babycakes

I wandered through the hester street fair today, after I left I remembered that babycakes was nearby so I had to stop in. My cupcake was excellent, it was a little melted but it still made my day.

I was just looking through some Better Homes and Gardens home planning catalogs from the 1970's and I came across some cool designs. One was about vacation homes, I love the shapes and all the windows involved. Can you imagine parking your boat under your house?
Then I came across this, it is the exact home I grew up in. It came from a catalog from 1974. My bedroom was the front single window on the right, I shared that room with my sister. Those columns in the front were always full of wasps, they loved to build their nests in them. We would do our best to keep away from the them while waiting for the school bus.
And while on the topic of interesting homes I wanted to mention one more house, I was reading about it recently and it is so incredible. It was called the "Pink Palace" and it was owned by Jayne Mansfield in the sixties. I found all these images of it online, the heart shaped swimming pool, fire place and hot tub really stand out. It no longer exists, it was torn down in 2002.
